Fit for
Golf Program
The Fit for Golf Program created for you by your physical therapist is
customized to your specific needs. It will help to strengthen and stretch the
key muscles necessary for a proper golf swing. Once your specific program is
decided upon it will follow a process known as release, reeducate and rebuild.
If pain or dysfunction is
present appropriate physical therapy will be provided including "HANDS ON
SKILLS" and modalities as indicated.
A customized stretching
exercise program will enhance your flexibility, posture and ultimately your golf
swing. This is known as the RELEASE phase of your program. The goal here is to
release the soft tissue tightness that is restricting your posture and
flexibility. As your pain and flexibility improves you will be given exercises
to teach your body proper golf swing posture and balance. This is known as the
reeducating phase. This phase will include instruction on how to assume better
posture during your golf swing and how to replace poor swing habits with ones
that will help prevent injury. Finally you will be shown exercises to strengthen
or rebuild the muscles specific to a golf swing. These golf specific exercises
will help to enhance all aspects of your golf game and your overall health.
Improved flexibility,
posture, and increased strength (combined) will ultimately enhance your golf
performance and prevent injury.
You can buy all the latest
equipment. You can read all the books and watch all the videos. However, you
will not be the best possible golfer you can be if your body, your most
important piece of equipment, is in pain or not "FIT".
