Ergonomics/Return to Work
Facility
Ergonomics can be defined as the relationship between the worker and the work
environment. Ergonomic consultation services are designed to assist employers to
identify injury risks in the workplace related to the work environment,
workstation design, worker habit, scheduling and specific job tasks.
Recommendations are provided to reduce strain, improve work postures, modify
tools and equipment, create rotation schedules, improve productivity, etc. which
allow employees and employers to take a proactive role in reducing common
work-related injuries including cumulative trauma problems. Physical Therapist
Consultants can also become a valuable part of your ergonomics/safety team.
On-site job analysis allows functional assessment of the job tasks and the
interaction between the work environment and the worker. Customized training
programs reinforce appropriate stretching, work postures and lifting techniques
to reduce the effects of cumulative trauma specific to your business. For more
